Whether it’s the glamour and energy of one of the prettiest race courses anywhere in the world, or the high-octane thrills of premier motorsport events, there’s so much to see and do.
And the best bit? We’re in the ideal location, based in East Dean, a mere minute’s drive away from the historic Goodwood Estate. We’re the perfect place to enjoy fine food, a snack or a drink either before or after your Goodwood event.
During this time however, we are likely to be extremely busy, so to avoid disappointment be sure to reserve a table.

The Star & Garter is a gorgeous country inn with rooms in the village of East Dean, which nestles in the South Downs National Park and at the heart of the Goodwood Estate, the perfect base for walkers, cyclists, race-goers and motorsport enthusiasts.
Our 18th century flint and brick country pub is the ideal place to relax and enjoy fabulous food, beer, and wine.
Our knowledgeable, close knit team are an extension of us, and are able to wait on you hand and foot, striving to make your experience the best it can be.

How to get to us
By Public Transport
We are around 8 miles from Chichester Train Station. The 99 bus passes through East Dean via, Midhurst, Petworth and Chichester, running every 2 hours.From Chichester
Take the A286 towards Singleton and Midhurst. At Singleton, take the right turn to Charlton and East Dean. When you arrive in East Dean, the pub is on the right – just after the pond.From Midhurst
Take the A286 towards Singleton and Chichester. At Singleton, take the left turn to Charlton and East Dean. When you arrive in East Dean, the pub is on the right – just after the pond.From Petworth
Take the road Petworth to Chichester. Just after Upwaltham, take a right turn towards East Dean (down a country lane). Once in East Dean, follow the main road and the pub is on the left – before the pond.
